Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Tennis team continues the 2019 season with a pair of home matches this weekend. The Knights play host to Skyline Conference rival Farmingdale State on Saturday before welcoming Vaughn to Newburgh on Sunday. Both matches are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on campus.
At A Glance: The Knights have won their last two outings and stand at 4-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play entering the weekend.
Senior
Michelle Carnovale (Massapequa, N.Y.) leads the team in singles wins with a 7-1 record at the top flight through eight matches and has teamed with junior
Victoria Clay (Saint James, N.Y.) for four doubles wins on the season. Entering the weekend, Carnovale sits in sixth place all-time at the Mount in singles win and 10
th all-time in combined victories.
Junior
Jessalyn Goetz (Bethel, N.Y.) and sophomore
Katie Murray (Highland Mills, N.Y.) are also in the midst of strong seasons for the Knights in 2019. Both players enter the weekend at 6-2 for the Mount, with Goetz winning five times at the fifth position and once at sixth singles, with Murray posting all six of her triumphs at the fourth slot.
In doubles play, Murray has teamed with freshman
Katrina Imperio (Campbell Hall, N.Y.) for a perfect 5-0 mark at the third position, with Carnovale and Clay holding a 4-4 first doubles record. Goetz and Vernon have won three times for the Knights over the second and third positions.
Scouting Farmingdale State: The Rams enter a Friday afternoon contest with Western Connecticut at 9-1 overall and a perfect 3-0 against league rivals. Farmingdale State has won eight straight decisions, including a 7-2 victory over St. Joseph's-L.I. on September 28.
A Look At Vaughn: The Warriors have played just once prior to Sunday's clash, dropping a 9-0 decision to Pratt on September 20.
What's Next: The Knights close out a four match home stand on October 12 when it plays host to St. Joseph's-L.I.
