Newburgh, N.Y. – After nearly a week off from competition, the Mount Saint Mary College Women's Tennis team will play host to league rival St. Joseph's-L.I. Saturday afternoon in a key Skyline Conference matchup. The Knights and Golden Eagles, who are separated by just one match in the conference standings, are scheduled to get underway at 1:00 p.m.

The Knights feature a trio of players with at least seven wins on the season, led by a 9-1 record from senior
Michelle Carnovale (Massapequa, N.Y.). Carnovale enters the weekend having won four straight decisions and won both her singles contests last weekend, posting top flight wins of 6-3, 6-1 against Farmingdale State and 6-0, 6-0 against Vaughn.
Katie Murray (Highland Mills, N.Y.) and
Jessalyn Goetz (Bethel, N.Y.) are both sporting 7-3 records for the Knights in singles play with Goetz posting six wins at the fifth position and Murray scoring each of her seven wins at the fourth slot.
Gracie Monahan (Deer Park, N.Y.) has won her last three decisions and holds a 3-1 mark at sixth singles, with
Emily Quinn (Montgomery, N.Y.) holding a 4-1 mark for the Mount at the sixth position.
In doubles play, the top pair of Carnovale and
Victoria Clay (Saint James, N.Y.) and the third pair of Murray ad
Katrina Imperio (Campbell Hall, N.Y.) have each won five matches. The top pair is 5-5, while the third duo holds a 5-1 record.
Last Time Out: The Knights posted a 9-0 sweep of Vaughn on Sunday on Senior Day. The Mount swept each of the three doubles matches against the Warriors and went on to drop just five singles games in the victory.
Carnovale, Murray and Quinn each won their singles matches without dropping a game, with senior
Miyanna Vernon (Liberty, N.Y.) scoring a 6-2, 6-0 third singles wins. Clay won 6-0, 6-1 at second singles, while Goetz posted a 6-0, 6-2 fifth singles victory.
Weekly Honors: For the second time this season, Carnovale was tabbed the Skyline Conference Player of the week. She posted a perfect 3-0 singles record at the top flight and added two more doubles win for a 5-1 combined record.
Scouting St. Joseph's-L.I. – The Golden Eagles enter Saturday's match with a 6-2 overall record and a 3-1 mark in Skyline Conference play. St. Joseph's has won its last two outings, sweeping Purchase and posting an 8-1 victory over Manhattanville.
Four Golden Eagles have won five singles matches on the season, with Mackenzie Martocci holding a 5-2 record at the third position. Alana Caporale has won once at the third and fourth positions and posted a trio of wins at the fifth slot. Nora Burnett has won four times at the fourth slot and once at second singles, while Alexandra Suslan has won once at fourth and fifth singles and three times at the sixth slot.
In doubles play, Charrier and Erin Hickey hold a 6-2 record over two positions, while Caporale and Martocci hold a 5-1 record at second doubles. Burnett and Amanda Post have played seven times at the top flight and hold a 4-3 mark.
St. Joseph's-L.I. holds a 31-17 record in singles matches through eight contest, including a 15-9 mark against Skyline Conference rivals. In doubles play, the Golden Eagles are 17-7 overall and 9-3 in Skyline Conference play.
Recent History: Since the start of the 2007 season, Mount Saint Mary has won 10 of the 16 matchups between the two sides. The Knights won seven straight from 2009-13, while the Golden Eagles have won five of the last six outings, including a 6-3 triumph last season.
What's Next: The Knights will round out the regular season next weekend when they travel to Purchase on October 19 and host St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on October 20.
