Madison, N.J. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Swimming team rebounded from its first loss of the season on Friday afternoon with a 136-73 road non-conference win at FDU-Florham. The Knights won seven events in the meet, including six different individual winners.
The Knights got off to a quick start on Friday, taking the 200-yard medley relay event. The team of
Shayla McCarroll (Clifton Park, N.Y.),
Jillian Bunch (Newburgh, N.Y.),
Katie Barber (Shelton, Conn.) and
Daley O'Keefe (Glastonbury, Conn.) took the race in a time of 2:08.21.
Bunch, O'Keefe and McCarroll went on to claim individual wins later in the meet in the 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard breaststroke, respectively. Bunch won the freestyle race in 2:12.08, with O'Keefe taking the backstroke event in 1:12.57 and McCarroll winning the breaststroke race in 1:17.71.
Senior
Brigit Gardner (Staten Island, N.Y.) took the top spot for the Knights in the 50-yard freestyle in 29.72 seconds, while sophomore
Samantha Gangemi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) took the 200-yard backstroke in 2:35.83 and junior
Taylor Hollis (East Hartford, Conn.) won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:58.46.
Senior
Kyra McNamee (Yonkers, N.Y.) earned two of the Mount's nine runner-up finishes in the race, claiming the second spot in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:54.43 and the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 58.83 seconds.
Seniors
Stephanie Adams (Liverpool, N.Y.),
Breanne Greaves (Hamilton, N.J.) and
Lauren Schroeder (Wantagh, N.Y.) also scored second place points for the Mount, with Schroeder swimming a time of 2:21.74 in the 200-yard freestyle, Greaves showing a time of 30.34 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle and Adams touching out in a time of 1:18.86 in the 100-yard backstroke.
Mount Saint Mary also received runner-up finishes on Friday from
Elizabeth Farragher (Wantagh, N.Y.) in the 100-yard breaststroke,
Sophia Reinhardt (Port Ewen, N.Y.) in the 200-yard backstroke,
Emily Crowley (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) in the 200-yard breaststroke and O'Keefe in the 500-yard freestyle.
Friday's win pushes Mount Saint Mary to 7-1 overall on the season. The Knights will close out the home schedule on Saturday when they welcome Purchase, Baruch and Wells to the Kaplan Center Pool. Events are scheduled to get underway at 12:00 p.m.
