Men’s Swimming Collects Non-Conference Win At FDU-Florham

Kohlus, Neugebauer win two events apiece

Madison, N.J. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Swimming team got back into the win column on Friday with a 126-114 road non-conference victory at FDU-Florham. Juniors Robert Kohlus (Wading River, N.Y.) and Michael Neugebauer (Newburgh, N.Y.) each won a pair of events for the Knights in the win.
 
Kohlus had a strong day for the Knights with victories in both the 200-yard butterfly and the 200-yard individual medley. The butterfly victory came in 2:07.21, before he bested the field in the individual medley in 2:11.71. Kohlus also picked up a second place finish for the Knights on Friday in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 52.31 seconds.
 
Neugebauer had a big meet for the Mount with top finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke and the 50-yard freestyle. He touched out in a time of 1:05.97 in the breaststroke race and came home first in the freestyle event with a time of 23.41 seconds. Neugebauer also added a second place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke against the Devils, earning runner-up points in a time of 2:29.64.
 
Sophomore P.J. Ramsey (Plantsville, N.Y.) also picked up an individual victory for the Knights, taking the top spot in the 100-yard butterfly, showing a time of 59.70 seconds. Ramsey added a second place finish for the Mount in the 200-yard freestyle, swimming a time of 1:59.90.
 
Sophomore Matthew Gallo (Clark, N.J.) and senior Philippe Noisy (New York, N.Y.) contributed a pair of runner-up finishes apiece to Friday's winning effort. Gallo took second in the 1,000-yard freestyle in 11:46.59 and the 200-yard backstroke in 2:19.19, while Noisy finished up second in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:08.80 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:47.19.
 
The Mount also scored victories on Friday in each of the two relay events contested. The team of Noisy, Neugebauer, Kohlus and Ramsey opened the day with in the 200-yard medley race in 1:39.90, while the squad of Noisy, Alberto Gilman (New Windsor, N.Y.), Gallo and Ramsey closed the meet with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle race with a time of 1:41.25.

Friday's victory pushes the Mount to 3-4 overall on the season. The Knights will close out the regular season on Saturday when it hosts Purchase, Baruch and Wells on Senior Day. Events are scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m.
