Orlando, Fla. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Tennis team continued its Florida trip on Wednesday with a hard fought 6-3 defeat at the hands of Loras. Juniors
Chris McGorty (Bellmore, N.Y.) and
Shane Terry (Southampton, N.Y.) each earned singles wins for the Knights.
McGorty continued his strong junior campaign and moved to 6-1 on the season with a convincing 6-0, 6-1 win at second singles on Wednesday. Terry improved to 5-3 in singles play, including a 5-2 mark at the third position, by outlasting his opponent from Loras by scores of 7-6, (7-4), 2-6, 10-4.
Matt Anastasi (Salisbury Hills, N.Y.) and
Jaden Tiriolo (Cheshire, Conn.) both suffered tough defeats on Wednesday at the first and fourth positions. Anastasi was dealt his third defeat of the year in a 2-6, 6-4, 7-10 decision, while Tiriolo also fell to 5-3 with a 7-5, 2-6, 7-10 loss at the fourth spot.
In doubles play, the top pair of Anastasi and McGorty scored the lone win for the Knights. He duo moved to 5-2 together on the season with an 8-4 first doubles victory.
At 4-4 overall on the season, Mount Saint Mary closed out its trip to Florida with a no-conference match with ASA Miami on Thursday afternoon.
