Men’s Swimming Scores First Dual Meet Win Of The Season At Lehman

Kohlus, Tagliareni combine for five individual victories

Bronx, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary Men's Swimming team returned to the pool on Saturday and picked up a 143-104 road win at Lehman, the team's first dual victory of the season. Freshman Joseph Tagliareni (Hackettstown, N.J.) and junior Robert Kohlus (Wading River, N.Y.) led the charge for the Knights, combing for half of the team's 10 victories on the day.
 
Kohlus continued his standout career for the Knights with a trio of first place individual finishes for the Knights on Saturday. He picked up first place points for the Mount in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:04.14, the 100-yard freestyle in 52.15 seconds and the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:10.12.
 
Taglaireni continued the strong start to his rookie season on Saturday with a pair of wins for the Mount. The newcomer topped the field for the Mount in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.28 and the 200-yard backstroke race in a time of 2:19.13.
 
Senior Philippe Noisy (New York, N.Y.), junior Michael Neugebauer (Newburgh, N.Y.) and sophomore P.J. Ramsey (Plantsville, Conn.) also scored individual wins for the Knights against the Lightning. Noisy came home first in the 500-yard freestyle in 6:02.71, Neugebauer topped the field in the 50-yard freestyle in 23.56 seconds and Ramsey scored his victory in the 100-yard freestyle in 1:00.93.
 
In addition to their victories on Saturday, Neugebauer and Ramsey also picked up runner-up finishes for the Mount. Neugebauer took the second position in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:36.08, while Ramsey picked up second place points for the Knights in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:05.70.
 
Sam Kenney (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) picked up a pair of runner-up finishes against the Lightning, coming home in the runner-up position in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:46.63 and the 100-yard breaststroke, swimming a time of 1:22.20. Matthew Gallo (Clark, N.J.) also had a strong day for the Knights, scoring second place finishes in both the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke races with times of 1:04.81 and 2:24.09, respectively.
 
Mount Saint Mary dominated the relay events on Saturday winning the 200-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle events. The team of Kohlus, Neugebauer, Ramsey and Tagliareni won the medley race by better than 10 seconds with a time of 1:52.77, while the squad of Neugebauer, Ramsey, Noisy and Tagliareni edged out their opponents in the freestyle race with a time of 1:37.19.
 
At 1-1 on the season, Mount Saint Mary returns to the Kaplan Center Pool on November 3 for a non-conference meet with the College of Staten Island. Meet time with the Dolphins is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
