Women's Tennis Travels To Top-Seeded Purchase To Open Skyline Conference Championship

Knights clinched fourth seed in regular season finale

Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Tennis team travels to Purchase to take part in the Skyline Conference semifinals on Wednesday. First serve with the top-seeded Panthers is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

At a Glance: The Knights are 6-7 (2-4 Skyline) on the season after defeating St. Joseph's-Brooklyn, 8-1, to clinch the fourth seed in the conference playoffs.

Junior Michelle Carnovale (Massapequa, N.Y.) is 9-1 in singles matches at the top flight this season. Katie Murray (Highland Mills, N.Y.) is 9-1 in singles, at three different flights, on the year and Sarah Canzone (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) is 9-2, also at three different flights, this year in singles. Canzone is also 7-4 in doubles matches with four different partners.

Recent Skyline Championship History: The Mount lost in the Skyline Conference Championship Final last year to Yeshiva, 5-1. It was the first appearance in a Skyline final since 2012.

Regular Season Result: Purchase defeated the Knights, 8-1, on October 6, with Carnovale winning the lone match.

A Look At Purchase: The Panthers are 10-1 (6-0 Skyline) with their lone loss coming to Brooklyn College, 5-4, in the first match of the season.

Abigail Cuddy is undefeated at 9-0 this season at two different flights. Alivia Cagliano is also undefeated at 6-0 at two different flights this year.

Bianca Harris and Grace Bradshaw is 4-1 overall in doubles and Raquelle DeCicco and Abigail Cuddy is also 4-1 overall in doubles.

The team is 22-2 in conference singles matches and they are undefeated at 12-0 in conference doubles matches.

Championship Schedule: In addition to the Knights and Panthers, third-seeded Farmingdale State and two-seeded St. Joseph's-LI will square-off on Wednesday and the winners will take part in the championship final on Saturday.
