Purchase, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Tennis team saw its fall season come to an end with a 5-1 loss at top-seeded Purchase in the semifinal round of the Skyline Conference Championship on Wednesday. The Mount's lone win of the day came at the top doubles pair.
The Mount's top flight pair of
Michelle Carnovale (Massapequa, N.Y.) and
Victoria Clay (Saint James, N.Y.) were the only winners for the Knights on Wednesday. The duo improved their record to 6-5 on the season and posted their third straight win together with an 8-4 win against the Panthers.
Second, third and fourth singles were the only matches to finish on Wednesday, with Purchase taking all three to advance to the Championship Final on Saturday. Clay suffered a 2-6, 2-6 loss at the second slot, while
Miyanna Vernon (Liberty, N.Y.) battled hard in a 4-6, 0-6 loss.
Wednesday's loss finishes the Mount's fall with a 6-8 overall record.
