Women’s Tennis Dealt Road League Loss At St. Joseph’s-L.I.

Trio of Knights score singles victories

Patchogue, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Tennis team returned to Skyline Conference play on Saturday, suffering a 6-3 road loss at St. Joseph's-L.I. The Mount took three singles matches, winning at the first, fifth and sixth positions against the Golden Eagles.
 
Junior Michelle Carnovale (Massapequa, N.Y.) returned to the Mount's lineup and scored her eighth singles win of the season on Saturday. She moved to 8-1 overall and 4-1 against league rivals with a 6-2, 7-6 (10-7) triumph at the top flight.
 
A pair of freshmen continued their strong rookie campaigns on Saturday, with Sarah Canzone (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) and Katie Murray (Highland Mills, N.Y.) scoring wins at the fifth and sixth slots, respectively. Canzone moved to 8-2 overall and 4-1 in league action with a 6-2, 4-6, 10-4 fifth singles win, while Murray pushed her singles record to 8-1 with a 6-2, 5-7, 10-7 sixth singles win.
 
Saturday's loss drops Mount Saint Mary to 5-7 overall on the season and to 1-4 in Skyline Conference play. The Knights close out the regular season on Sunday when they welcome St. Joseph's-Brooklyn to Newburgh. First serve with the Bears is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
