Riverhead, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Golf team returned to the course on Friday and scored a pair of Skyline Conference victories, edging St. Joseph's-L.I. 328-334 and topping Old Westbury 328-362. Freshman
Patrick Shea (Warwick, N.Y.) fired the low round of the day for the Mount.
Shea continued his strong freshman season on Friday by working his way around the Cherry Creek Golf Links in a five over-par 78. He finished with the best round of the day in the tri-match by a stroke, edging out St. Joseph's Pat Standard who shot a 79 to lead the Golden Eagles.
Tyler Gregory (Niskayuna, N.Y.) also had a strong round for the Knights, giving the Mount its top two scores from first year players. Gregory finished with an 81 for the Knights, working the second lowest round of the day.
Sophomore
Daniel Schena (Cheshire, Conn.) had a solid day for the Mount with an 83, with junior
Matt Higgins (Meriden, Conn.) and
Bryan Gayton (Cornwall-on-Hudson, N.Y.) finishing off the Mount's five man lineup with an 86 and 98, respectively.
Friday's results give the Mount four head-to-head victories over league rivals heading into the Skyline Conference Championship set to begin on October 21.
