Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Swimming team returned to competition on Saturday, suffering a 166-63 Skyline Conference defeat to the visiting United States Merchant Marine Academy. Senior
Ryan Ward (Brooklyn, N.Y.) picked up a win for the Mount in the 200-yard freestyle.
The Knights lone individual win on the day came from Ward who posted a time of 1:52.02 early in the meet. Sophomore
Robert Kohlus (Wading River, N.Y.) also turned in a strong swim for the Knights, posting second place finishes in both the 200-yard and 1000-yard butterfly events in times of 2:02.98 and 55.50 seconds.
Freshman
P.J. Ramsey (Plantsville, Conn.) scored a second place finish for the Mount in the 100-yard freestyle on Saturday in a time of 53.64 seconds, while sophomore
Michael Neugebauer (Newburgh, N.Y.) picked up third place points for the Mount in the 100-yard breaststroke, showing a time of 1:09.72.
Saturday's loss drops Mount Saint Mary to 4-4 overall on the season and to 3-2 in Skyline Conference action. The Knights return to the pool on January 19 when they travel to Bard for a 4:00 p.m. meet with the Raptors.
