Patchogue, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Tennis team evened its overall record and recorded its fifth straight win on Monday evening with a 7-2 road conference victory at St. Joseph's-L.I. The Knights won five of the six singles matches in the contests, with senior
Matt Anastasi (Salisbury Hills, N.Y.) winning at the top flight.
Anastasi moved to 9-1 in singles competition this season and won his sixth straight decision on Monday with an impressive 6-0, 6-1 first singles victory. Since the beginning of last season, Anastasi has posted a 19-4 singles record for the Knights, including a 10-2 mark against Skyline Conference opponents.

Chris McGorty (Bellmore, N.Y.) ran his singles winning streak to four contests on Monday with a 6-1, 6-0 second singles win and classmate
Shane Terry (Southampton, N.Y.) won his third straight contest and moved to 4-1 in league play with a hard fought 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 (10-4) third singles victory against St. Joseph's.
Chris Jaros (Marlboro, N.Y.) moved to 2-0 in Skyline Conference competition with a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-3) win at the fifth position and
Jason Wojciechowicz (Walden, N.Y.) moved to 3-1 on the season with a 6-4, 6-4 win at the sixth spot for the Mount.
The Knights opened a 2-1 lead heading into singles play on Monday with wins at the first and third double positions. The duo of Anastasi and McGorty won their third straight match at the top position with an 8-1 victory, while the tandem of
Kyle McIntyre (Drexel Hill, Pa.) and
Joe Ryan (Wantagh, N.Y.) moved to 4-2 on the season with an 8-2 triumph at the third spot.
Monday's win moves Mount Saint Mary to 5-5 overall on the season and to 3-2 in Skyline Conference action. The Knights return home on Thursday when they play host to non-conference foe John Jay. Match time at the Kaplan Tennis Courts is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
