Newburgh, N.Y. – Following a three match fall schedule, the Mount Saint Mary College Men's Tennis team opens the traditional spring season this weekend with road matches at St. Joseph's-L.I. on Saturday and Yeshiva on Sunday. Saturday's contest with the Golden Eagles is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. with Sunday's tilt with the Maccabees set for 2:00 p.m. in Edgewater, N.J.
At A Glance: At 0-3 overall on the season, the Knights are coming off a 2015-16 season that saw them post an 11-4 overall record and a 6-1 mark in Skyline Conference play. The Mount earned a berth in the Skyline Conference Championship where it dropped a hard fought 5-3 decision to Farmingdale State.
Mount Saint Mary returns senior
Matt Anastasi (Salisbury Hills, N.Y.) who was named First Team All-Skyline Conference last season after posting a 10-3 singles record, including a 9-3 mark at the top flight. Sophomore
Chris McGorty (Bellmore, N.Y.) returns after a strong rookie season that saw him go 12-3 in singles action and be named Second Team All-League and the conference's Rookie of the Week three times.
Also returning from last season's squad are
Zeno Baez (Wallkill, N.Y.),
Chris Jaros (Marlboro, N.Y.), who went 5-3 in singles action last season and
Shane Terry (Southampton, N.Y.) who went 11-3 in singles play as a freshman last season.
Mount Saint Mary looks to newcomers

Kyle McIntyre (Drexel Hill, Pa.),
Jason Wojciechowicz (Walden, N.Y.) and
Davonte Woodton (Fort Montgomery, N.Y.) for contributions this spring.
Scouting St. Joseph's: The Golden Eagles open their season Thursday against Staten Island before playing host to the Knights on Saturday. St. Joseph's went 3-9 overall last season and 2-5 in league play. The Golden Eagles return Matt Dioguardo who led the team in singles wins a season ago with five.
Recent History: Mount Saint Mary and St. Joseph's-L.I. have met 12 times since the spring of 2008 with the Knights holding a 9-3 record. The Knights have won the last eight meetings and have not dropped a match to the Golden Eagles since a 9-0 defeat in 2010.
A Look At Yeshiva: The Maccabees were picked first in the conference's preseason poll and have won the last three conference championships. Yeshiva is unbeaten in five matches so far this season behind the play of 2016 Skyline Conference Player of the Year and Skyline Conference Championship Most Outstanding Player David Papis Elon.
Recent History: The Knights and Maccabees have played 11 times since 2008 with Yeshiva holding a 6-5 record. The Knights won four straight regular season decisions from 2011-14, but Yeshiva has taken the last four matches, including wins in the Skyline Conference Championship Tournament in 2014 and 2015.
What's Next: Following the opening conference weekend, Mount Saint Mary heads to Lehman on March 29 before hosting St. Joseph's-Brooklyn on March 31.
