Patchogue, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Swimming team cruised to a pair of Skyline Conference victories on Saturday, downing St. Joseph's-Brooklyn 145-85 and St. Joseph's-L.I. 162-60. Senior
Danielle Hughes (Oakville, Conn.) along with junior
Kyra McNamee (Yonkers, N.Y.) and freshman
Katie Barber (Shelton, Conn.) each won a pair of events for the Knights.
McNamee continued the lead the Knights with wins on Saturday in both the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke. Her freestyle win came in a time of 2:07.72, while her backstroke triumph came in 1:08.65.
Hughes topped the field on Saturday in the 50-yard breaststroke and the 100-yard individual medley. She posted winning times for the Knights of 35.40 seconds and 1:11.78. Barber took the top spot on Saturday in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:08.33 and the 50-yard butterfly in 31.72 seconds.
Mount Saint Mary also received individual wins from
Breanne Greaves (Hamilton, N.J.),
Lauren Schroeder (Wantagh, N.Y.) and
Brigit Gardner (Staten Island, N.Y.). Greaves won the 50-yard backstroke in 35.02 seconds, Schroeder topped the field in the 50-yard freestyle in 28.44 seconds and Gardner took the 500-yard freestyle in 6:33.06.
In the relay events, the Mount took first place in both the meet opening 200-yard medley relay and the meet ending 200-yard freestyle event. The medley team of
Daley O'Keefe (Glastonbury, Conn.), Hughes, Barber and Schroeder won in 2:08.50, while the freestyle team of McNamee, Gardner, O'Keefe and
Shayla McCarroll (Clifton Park, N.Y.) took first place in 1:56.62.
At 7-1 overall and 5-0 in Skyline Conference action, the Knights are off until hosting the United States Merchant Marine Academy on January 13.
