Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Swimming returned to the Kaplan Center Pool on Friday night and suffered a 128-76 Skyline Conference loss to visiting Maritime. Sophomore
Robert Kohlus (wading River, N.Y.) and senior
Ryan Ward (Brooklyn, N.Y.) each won a pair of events for the Knights.
Kohlus continued his standout sophomore season on Friday with wins for the Knights in both the 200-yard individual medley and the 500-yard freestyle. His initial win of the night came in a time of 2:08.79, before he topped the field in the free style race in 5:10.92.
Ward also continued a strong season for the Mount with victories in the 200 and 100-yard freestyle races. The first triumph came in a time of 1:56.05, before he topped the field in the 100-yard race in a time of 51.07 seconds.
The Knights received also received a strong individual showing on Friday from
Michael Neugebauer (Newburgh, N.Y.) who finished second in the 50-yard freestyle for the Mount, showing a time of 23.30 seconds.
The Mount opened the meet with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Kohlus, Neugebauer,
P.J. Ramsey (Plantsville, Conn.) and Ward edged out the runner-up with a time of 1:45.49.
Friday's loss drops Mount Saint Mary back to the .500 mark at 3-3 overall and to 2-1 in Skyline Conference action. The Knights will get right back to work on Saturday afternoon when they take on St. Joseph's-Brooklyn in Patchogue, N.Y.
