Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Swimming teams return home to the Kaplan Center Pool on Saturday afternoon for a non-conference home meet with King's (Pa.). Meet time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
MSMC Men At A Glance: The Knights picked up their second win of the season last Saturday with a 114-103 road win at the College of Staten Island.
Ryan Ward (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Mount with a pair of individual wins in the meet.
Ward continued the strong start to his senior campaign on Saturday with victories for the Knights in both the 50 and 500-yard freestyle events. His sprint win came in 23.35 seconds, while the 500-yard win came in a time of 5:18.46.
Classmate
Kyle Barber (Shelton, Conn.) picked up a victory for the Mount in the 100-yard butterfly and added a second place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle. He bested the field in the butterfly event with a time of 56.69 seconds and swam a time of 11:56.33 in the freestyle.
Sophomore
Robert Kohlus (Wading River, N.Y.) picked up a win in the 200-yard individual medley on Saturday and collected second place points for the Knights in the 100-yard backstroke. He swam times of 2:08.99 and 1:00.01, respectively.
Michael Neugebauer (Newburgh, N.Y.) and freshman
P.J. Ramsey (Plantsville, Conn.) also added first and second place finishes for the Knights. Neugebauer won the 100-yard freestyle in 54.64 seconds and posted second place finishes in the 50-yard race in 23.56 and 100-yard breaststroke event in 1:909.48. Ramsey scored first place points in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:03.11 and followed Barber in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:00.00.
Junior
Philippe Noisy (New York, N.Y.) turned in a strong swim on Saturday as well, posting second place finishes for the Mount in the 200-yard and 100-yard freestyle events.
Mount Saint Mary finished the day with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay, with the team of Ward, Ramsey, Barber and Kohlus posting a winning time of 3:35.80.
Weekly Awards: Following their performances in the win at Staten Island, the Mount swept the Skyline Conference weekly awards. Ward was named the league's Swimmer of the Week and Ramsey picked up Rookie of the Week accolades.
MSMC Women At A Glance: The Knights moved to 3-0 on the season with an impressive 150-54 road non-conference win at Staten Island last weekend. Junior
Kyra McNamee (Yonkers, N.Y.) paced the Knights with a pair of wins.
McNamee continued to excel at the middle distance events for the Knights, scoring victories in both the 200 and 500-yard freestyle events. Her 200 win came in a time of 2:07.98 before winning the 500-yard race in 5:43.74.
A pair of freshmen,
Daley O'Keefe (Glastonbury, Conn.) and
Katie Barber (Shelton, Conn.), also scored wins for the Mount. O'Keefe won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:07.29 with Barber winning the 200-yard individual medley in 2:31.34, narrowly beating O'Keefe who finished in 2:31.54.
Samantha McGregor (Highland Mills, N.Y.) picked up a win in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing two seconds ahead of Barber, and
Marissa Catania (Rocky Hill, Conn.) collected first place points for the Mount in the 100-yard breaststroke, showing a time of 1:14.77.
Mount Saint Mary also received strong efforts from
Shayla McCarroll (Clifton Park, N.Y.) who took second place in both the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke,
Danielle Hughes(Oakville, Conn.) who took runner-up points in the 100-yard breaststroke and
Lauren Schroeder (Wantagh, N.Y.) who took second in both the 50 and 100-yard freestyle races.
The Knights continued to dominate the relay events, winning both the 200-yard medley relay and the 400-yard freestyle events. The quartet of McCarroll, Catania, Barber and
Laynie Callo(Milton, N.Y.) won the medley race in 2:06.54, while McNamee, Hughes, O'Keefe and Schroeder won the freestyle race in 4:16.95.
Weekly Honors: The Mount Saint Mary women also swept the Skyline Conference Weekly awards on Monday. McNamee collected Swimmer of the Week recognition, while O'Keefe picked up the Rookie of the Week honor.
What's Next: Following Saturday's non-conference meet with King's (Pa.), the Knights will return to Skyline Conference competition at Sarah Lawrence on November 11.
