Victoria Clay (Saint James, N.Y.) extended her personal singles winning streak to six matches against the Hawks.
Clay won her team leading sixth straight singles decision on Thursday and moved to 4-3 at the fourth singles position with a 7-5, 6-3 win for the Knights. The win moves Clay to within one victory of the singles victories team lead which is held by
Michelle Carnovale (Massapequa, N.Y.) who suffered a tough 5-7, 6-7 (5-8) loss at the top flight.
Sophomore
Miyanna Vernon (Liberty, N.Y.) picked up the Mount's other singles win, outlasting her opponent at fifth singles 6-3, 2-6, 10-6. The single win pushed her record to 6-3 overall, tying her for second on the team in singles win, and 4-1 at the fifth spot.
In doubles play, the third pair of Vernon and
Emily Quinn (Montgomery, N.Y.) picked up a win for the Knights. The duo pushed their record together to 2-2 with an 8-5 triumph for the Knights.
Thursday's loss drops Mount Saint Mary back to the .500 mark overall at 5-5. The Knights return to conference play on Saturday when they travel to Purchase. Match time with the Panthers is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
