Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Tennis team closed out the fall season on Sunday with a 9-0 sweep of visiting Pratt. Freshman
Jaden Tiriolo (Cheshire, Conn.) won his team leading fourth match of the season in the victory.
Tiriolo won his fourth match in as many outings on Sunday, scoring a 10-0 sweep at fourth singles for the Mount. He is only player to appear in all four matches this fall to be unblemished for the Knights. He holds a 1-0 mark at third singles and a 3-0 mark at the fourth position.
Armando Avila (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) moved to 2-1 on the season with a 10-1 win for the Mount at the sixth position, while
Charles Benfer (Milton, N.Y.),
Shane Terry (Southampton, N.Y.) and
Chris McGorty (Bellmore, N.Y.) all won for the third time. Benfer moved to 3-1 with a 10-5 fifth singles win, Terry improved to 3-1 with a 10-3 third singles triumph and McGorty posted a 10-2 second singles win to push his record to 3-0.
At the top position,
Matt Anastasi (Salisbury Hills, N.Y.) earned his third win in four outing with a 10-5 victory. He joined McGorty earlier in the match for an 8-0 blanking at first doubles as the duo improved to 3-0 on the season.
Tiriolo and Benfer eased to an 8-1 victory at second doubles, while
Matt Gallo (Clark, N.J.) and
Joe Ryan (Wantagh, N.Y.) moved to 2-0 with an 8-0 third singles triumph.
Sunday's win closes the Mount's fall at 3-1.
