Box ScoreHarrison, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Tennis team won its second straight match to open the spring and its Skyline Conference opener on Saturday with a 9-0 road win at St. Joseph's-Brooklyn.
Matt Anastasi (Salisbury Hills, N.Y.) won at both first singles and doubles for the Knights.
Anastasi, who was named the conference's player of the week following a 9-0 win at John Jay, collected a 6-1, 6-1 victory at the first singles position and teamed with
Chris McGorty (Bellmore, N.Y.) for an 8-2 victory at the top doubles spot.
Senior
Nate Dimmie (Middletown, N.Y.) scored a 6-0, 6-1 win at second doubles and was followed by a 6-1, 6-0 win from
Dan Witke (Brooklyn, N.Y.) at the third position.
McGorty won for the Knights at fourth singles by scores of 6-1, 6-0 and
Shane Terry (Southampton, N.Y.) picked up a 6-0, 6-2 triumph at the fifth position.
Chris Jaros (Marlboro, N.Y.) finished off the sweep of the singles matches with a 6-3, 6-1 at sixth singles.
In addition to the Anastasi and MGorty win at first doubles, the Knights received 8-0 sweeps from Dimmie and Terry at the second spot and
Joe Borden (Newburgh, N.Y.) and Witke at the third position.
At 3-2 overall and 1-0 in league play, Mount Saint Mary will return to action on Monday when it plays host to CCNY. Match time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
