Newark, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Tennis team got back into the win column on Friday with a convincing 8-1 non-conference road win at Rutgers-Newark. Senior
Nate Dimmie (Middletown, N.Y.) picked up wins for the Knights at the top singles and second doubles positions.
Playing at the first singles position for the first time this season, Dimmie scored an 8-6 victory for the Knights and moved to 5-2 overall on the season in singles play. He also teamed up with freshman
Shane Terry (Southampton, N.Y.) at the second doubles spot, with the duo earning an 8-3 victory.
Junior
Matt Anastasi (Salisbury Hills, N.Y.) cruised to an 8-0 singles win in the second spot and joined freshman
Chris McGorty (Bellmore, N.Y.) for an impressive 8-3 win at the top doubles position. McGorty went on to post an 8-5 win for the Knights at fourth singles.
Senior
Dan Witke (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored an 8-4 win at the third singles position for the Mount, while
Joe Borden (Newburgh, N.Y.) posted an 8-3 win at fifth singles and Terry recorded an 8-5 triumph at the sixth position.
With Friday's win, Mount Saint Mary moves back above the .500 mark at 4-3 overall. The Knights will return to league play on Saturday when they travel to Sarah Lawrence. Match time in Bronxville is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
