Katie Gattoni (Old Tappan, N.J.) posted nine points, while
Jen Gries (Hicksville, N.Y.) and
Kathleen McGinnis (Shelton, Conn.) each scored three times as the Mount Saint Mary College Women's Lacrosse team posted a 15-10 road non-conference win at New England College Sunday afternoon.

In a tightly contested first half, Mount Saint Mary closed the period with a 4-1 run to carry an 8-6 lead into the intermission. The Knights battled back from a pair of one goal deficits in the stanza and took their largest lead of the period with five second left before halftime on a
Julia Fitzpatrick (Shelton, Conn.) marker.

Gattoni scored three times and assisted on a fourth goal before halftime as the Knights held a 24-14 advantage in shots and a 16-4 edge in groundballs after 30 minutes of action. The Pilgrims dominated draw controls in the opening half, winning 12 of the 15 contested.

McGinnis gave the Knights a 9-6 lead coming out of halftime, but three goals in a 2:50 stretch from New England College knotted the score at 9-9 with 23:32 left in regulation time.

Mount Saint Mary answered the run with three straight goals of their own, including the eventual game winning tally from Gries, to open a 12-9 advantage with 13:20 left to play. The Pilgrims would climb to within 12-10, but three straight goals from the Knights in the final 7:39 of regulation closed the scoring in the game and gave the Mount its largest lead of the contest, the final five goal decision.

Gries scored twice in the second half and finished the contest with three tallies to go along with a pair of caused turnovers. McGinnis finished off a strong day with her three makers, adding three groundballs, two draw controls and a pair of caused turnovers.

Gattoni rounded out a trio of Knights with multiple goals, pacing the team with five markers and four helpers. She leads the Knights in scoring through the team's first five games with 19 goals, seven assists and 26 points. She added three groundballs and two draw controls on Sunday.

Freshman
Maggie Pedersen (Glasco, N.Y.) led the Mount with four groundballs in the game and three caused turnovers.
Jennifer Bones (Camden, Del.) contributed a goal and an assist, while
Claire Duffy (Monroe, N.Y.) chipped in with three points, three groundballs, two caused turnovers and a draw control.

The Pilgrims were paced by three goals and an assist from Gabriella Bigos and received three points, six groundballs and six draw controls from Allison Granata.

Freshman
Amanda Picillo (Valley Stream, N.Y.) earned the win in goal on Sunday for the Knights with a career-high 12 saves to go along with a groundball. New England College goalie, Mackenzie Meegan, also stopped 12 shots in the contest.

Mount Saint Mary finished the game with a 35-25 advantage in overall shots and a 27-22 edge in shots on goal. The Pilgrims took the advantage in groundballs 25-23 and draw controls 16-9, while the Knights went 21-for-27 in clearing attempts.

The Knights, who have alternated wins and losses over their first five contests, stand at 3-2 overall on the season. The Mount will return to action on Tuesday when it hosts Manhattanville. Opening Draw is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
