Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's and Women's Swimming teams will return to the poll on Saturday when they travel to King's (Pa.) for a non-conference meet with the Monarchs. Meet time in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
MSMC Men At A Glance: The Mount Saint Mary men enter Saturday's meet with an overall record of 1-3 and are coming off a 68-24 loss to Division II Bridgeport and a 77-16 loss to Division I Fairfield on October 29.
Junior
Jake Schoenherr (Scarsdale, N.Y.) had a strong day for the Knights, picking up a pair of third place finishes for the Mount. He took third in both the 50 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke in times of 25.45 seconds and 1:13.07, respectively.
The Knights also collected third place points in both relay events on the day, with the team of
Peter O'Malley (Yonkers, N.Y.), Schoenherr,
Robert Kohlus and Michel Neugebauer posting a time of 2:00.44 in the 200 medley race and the quartet of
Sam Kenney,
Alberto Gilman (New Windsor, N.Y.),
Mohmmed Athar Khan (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) and
Davonte Woodton (Fort Montgomery, N.Y.) touching out in a time of 1:46.82 in the 200 freestyle event.
MSMC Women At A Glance: The Mount Saint Mary Women are also coming off a pair of losses last weekend after getting topped by Division II Bridgeport 71-23 and Division I Fairfield by a score of 79-16.
Junior
Marissa Catania (Rocky Hill, Conn.) recorded the Mount's best individual finish of the day, collecting runner-up points in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:17.91.
The Knights also had a pair of swimmers record third place finishes last weekend, including
Harley Illingworth (Northfield, N.J.) in the 400 freestyle and
Allison Sciucco (Middletown, N.Y.) in the 100 freestyle.
Mount Saint Mary picked up second place points in the final event of the meet with the team of
Kyra McNamee (Yonkers, N.Y.),
Lauren Schroeder (Wantagh, N.Y.),
Regina Zeoli (Washingtonville, N.Y.) and
Rachael Stone (Wallingford, Conn.) finishing second in the 200 freestyle relay.
What's Next: Following Saturday's non-conference meet, the Knights will return to Skyline Conference competition on November 11 when they travel to Purchase.
