Bridgeport, Conn. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Swimming team dropped a 71-23 decision to Division II Bridgeport and a 79-16 decision to Division I Fairfield on Saturday afternoon. Junior
Marissa Catania (Rocky Hill, Conn.) picked up a second place finish for the Knights.
Catania scored the Mount's best individual finish of the day, collecting runner-up points for the Knights in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:17.91. Classmate
Danielle Hughes (Oakville, Conn.) also had a strong race in the event, placing fifth for the Mount.
Sophomore
Harley Illingworth (Northfield, N.J.) scored a fourth place finish on Saturday in the 400 freestyle, while junior
Allison Sciucco (Middletown, N.Y.) put together a fourth place showing in the 100 freestyle.
Jessica Daigle (Trumbull, Conn.) followed in fifth place in the 100 freestyle.
Mount Saint Mary also had four swimmers post fifth place finishes on Saturday, including
Kyra McNamee (Yonkers, N.Y.) in the 800 freestyle,
Lauren Schroeder (Wantagh, N.Y.) in the 200 individual medley,
Regina Zeoli (Washingtonville, N.Y.) in the 100 butterfly and
Rachael Stone (Wallingford, Conn.) in the 100 backstroke.
The Knights closed the meet on Saturday with second place points in the 200 freestyle relay. The team of McNamee, Schroeder, Zeoli and Stone posted a time of 2:03.77.
Saturday's results drop Mount Saint Mary to 2-3 overall on the season. The Knights will return to action on November 5 when they head to King's (Pa.) for a 1:00 p.m. meet with the Monarchs.
