Bridgeport, Conn. – Competing against Division II Bridgeport and Division I Fairfield, the Mount Saint Mary College Men's Swimming team dropped a pair of dual meet decisions on Saturday. Jake Schoenerr (Scarsdale, N.Y.) picked up a pair of third place finishes for the Knights who fell to Bridgeport 68-24 and to Fairfield 77-16.
Schoenherr started his strong day with a third place finish on Saturday in the 50 freestyle and added a third place finish in the 100 breaststroke for the Knights. His freestyle time was 25.45 seconds, while his breaststroke time was 1:13.07.
Kyle Barber (Shelton, Conn.) also had a solid day for the Mount, scoring two fourth place finishes on the day. His first came in the 100 butterfly in a time of 1:04.77 and his next came in the 100 backstroke where he showed a time of 1:12.55.
Mount Saint Mary scored third place points on Saturday in the two relay events that were contested. The team of
Peter O'Malley (Yonkers, N.Y.), Schoenherr,
Robert Kohlus and
Michael Neugebauer posted a time of 2:00.44 in the 200 medley race, while the quartet of
Sam Kenney,
Alberto Gilman (New Windsor, N.Y.),
Mohmmed Athar Khan (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) and
Davonte Woodton showed a time of 1:46.82 in the 200 freestyle.
At 1-3 overall on the season, Mount Saint Mary will be back in the pool on November 5 when they travel to King's (Pa.). The non-conference meet is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
