Newburgh, N.Y. – After competing in the first home meet of the season, the Mount Saint Mary College Men's and Women's Swimming teams will return to the pool on Saturday when they travel to Bridgeport, Conn. to take on Division II University of Bridgeport and Division I Fairfield. Meet time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
MSMC Men At A Glance: The Mount Saint Mary men enter Saturday's meet at 1-1 on the season after suffering a 146-40 loss to Ramapo on October 22. Junior
Jake Schoenherr (Scarsdale, N.Y.) scored the Knights' lone win of the meet, besting the field in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 51.36 seconds.
Schoenherr also picked up a runner-up finish in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:56.30, while newcomer
Michael Neugebauer picked up a second place finish for the Mount in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.44 seconds.
MSMC Women At A Glance: The Mount women also suffered their first defeat of the season on Saturday, falling to Ramapo in the first home meet of the season by a score of 123-82. Senior
Jessica Daigle (Trumbull, Conn.) and junior
Marissa Catania (Rocky Hill, Conn.) scored victories for the Knights as they fell to 2-1 on the season.
Daigle won the longest event of the meet, the 1,000-yard freestyle, for the Knights in a time of 11:43.21. She also picked up a second place finish for Mount Saint Mary in the 500-yard freestyle and was a member of the 200-yard freestyle relay that scored a runner-up finish.
Catania topped the field against the Roadrunners in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:11.47 and was a member of the 200-yard medley relay team that took second place.
Kyra McNamee (Yonkers, N.Y.),
Allison Sciucco (Middletown, N.Y.) and
Harley Illingworth (Northfield, N.J.) all had strong meets for the Knights, with each swimmer picking up a pair of second place finishes against Ramapo.
What's Next: Following Saturday's meet in Connecticut, Mount Saint Mary will travel to King's (Pa.) for a non-conference meet with the Monarchs on November 5.
