Chicopee, Mass. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Swimming team won each of the 14 events contested on Saturday, including three individual wins each from
Marissa Catania (Rocky Hill, Conn.) and
Kyra McNamee (Yonkers, N.Y.) on its way to a dominating 189-60 non-conference win at Elms.
Catania continued her strong sophomore campaign on Saturday with victories in the 50 and 100 SC-meter breaststroke and the 200 individual medley. Her breaststroke wins came in times of 37.36 seconds and 1:20.49, while her IM victory came in a time of 2:59.29,
McNamee also turned in a stellar swim on Saturday, taking the top spot for the Knights in the 200 SC-meter freestyle, the 50 freestyle and the 100 backstroke. Her initial win of the day came in a time of 2:19.29, with her final two individual triumphs coming in respective times of 30.21 seconds and 1:16.95.
Freshman
Lauren Schroeder (Wantagh, N.Y.) picked up a pair of wins on Saturday, taking the 100 freestyle in a time of 1:06.58 and the 50 butterfly in a time of 32.87 seconds. Schroeder also placed second for the Knights in the 50 back on Saturday in a time of 36.92 seconds.
Mount Saint Mary also got individual wins on Saturday from
Jessica McClure (West Haven, Conn.),
Regina Zeoli (Washingtonville, N.Y.),
Samantha McGregor (Highland Mills, N.Y.) and
Jessica Daigle (Trumbull, Conn.).
McClure topped the field in the 800 freestyle in a time of 10:56.83 with Zeoli winning the 50 backstroke for the Knights with a time of 35.32 seconds. McGregor won the 100 butterfly in 1:19.42 and Daigle took the top spot in the 400 freestyle in a time of 5:09.59.
The Knights also received strong efforts from Rachel Stone (Wallingford, Conn.) who took second in the 200 freestyle,
Allison Sciucco (Middletown, N.Y.) who placed second in both the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle,
Stephanie Adams (Liverpool, N.Y.) who took second in the 800 freestyle and 400 freestyle and
Breanne Greaves (Hamilton, N.J.) who finished second in the 200 individual medley.
The Knights continued to dominate the relay events on Saturday, winning both the 200 SC-meter medley and 200 freestyle races on Saturday. The team of Zeoli, Catania, McGregor and Schroeder won the medley event in 2:15.71, while the squad of Sciucco, Zeoli, Daigle and McNamee won the freestyle race in 2:05.76.
Saturday's win pushes Mount Saint Mary to 9-2 overall on the season. The Knights will return to action on Friday afternoon when they welcome Montclair State to the Kaplan Center Pool. Meet time is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
