Chicopee, Mass. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Swimming team returned to the pool on Saturday, suffering a 128-105 non-conference loss at Elms. The Knights won seven individual events on the day, including three from sophomore
Kyle Barber (Shelton, Conn.).
Barber picked up his first win of the day in the 100 SC-meter butterfly and went on to take the top spot in both the 50 butterfly and the 200 individual medley. His opening victory came in a time of 1:05.54, with the other two wins on the day coming in 29.86 seconds and 2:28.82, respectively.
Senior
Sam Watson (Groton, Conn.) also turned in a strong day for the Knights, topping the field in both the 50 and 100 backstroke. His winning times on Saturday came in 30.47 seconds and 1:07.91.
Sophomore
Jake Schoenherr (Scarsdale, N.Y.) continued his strong season for the Mount with wins in the 50 breaststroke in a time of 34.09 seconds and the 50 freestyle in a time of 26.01 seconds. Schoenherr also picked up a second place finish for the Mount in the 100 freestyle, posting a time of 57.43 seconds.
The Knights opened Saturday's meet with a victory in the 200 SC-meter medley relay, with the team of Watson, Schoenherr, Barber and
Steven Fejes (Stony Point, N.Y.) posting a winning time of 2:04.91.
Saturday's loss drops Mount Saint Mary to 3-6 overall in dual meet competition. Next up for the Knights is a home non-conference meet with Montclair State on Friday. Meet time with the Red Hawks is set for 3:00 p.m.
