NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College men's tennis team (5-6, 3-3 Skyline) honored its three graduating seniors prior to Saturday's Skyline Conference match against Farmingdale State College, in which the Knights fell to the Rams, 9-0, on the Mount Saint Mary College Tennis Courts.
Seniors
Connor Bean (Glenville, N.Y.),
Bryan Frank (West Babylon, N.Y.) and
Joel Rodriguez (Hackensack, N.J.) were all commemorated in a pre-match ceremony to celebrate all of their contributions to the Mount Saint Mary College men's tennis program.
The Knights fell behind quickly in the match after dropping all three doubles matches. Junior
Dan Witke (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and freshman
Chris Jaros (Marlboro, N.Y.) played well against Daniel Kafka and Kevin Palacios in the flight two doubles match, but ultimately fell, 8-5.
The Knights were swept in singles play as well to suffer the shutout loss to the Rams on Saturday. Witke played a strong match at third singles against Palacios, but lost in a tiebreaking third set, 4-6, 6-3, 10-6.
The Knights will close out the regular season on Monday, April 20, when they host Western Connecticut State University in a non-conference matchup. The Knights have locked up the No. 4 seed in the Skyline Conference Championship Tournament and await their first-round opponent. Monday's matchup is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
