NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College men's tennis team (5-5) fell to Ramapo College (12-2), 9-0, Thursday evening on the Mount Saint Mary College Tennis Courts. Despite the loss in non-conference action, St. Joseph's College (L.I.) fell to Yeshiva University in a Skyline Conference match, clinching a spot in the Skyline Conference Championship Tournament for the Knights.
The Knights currently sit in fourth place in the Skyline with a 3-2 record. St. Joe's fell to 1-3 with the loss. The Knights hold the tiebreaker over the Golden Eagles thanks to their 6-3 victory back on April 11. The Knights take on Farmingdale State College (7-3, 2-1 Skyline) on Saturday, April 18, in a match that will have significant effects on Skyline Tournament seeding.
The Knights could not get much going against a difficult Roadrunner team on Thursday. They were swept in doubles play to quickly fall behind, 3-0, in the non-conference matchup. Senior
Bryan Frank (West Babylon, N.Y.) and freshman
Chris Jaros (Marlboro, N.Y.) played the closest match at No. 3 doubles, but ultimately fell to Adam Petrovics and Matt Talmage, 8-3.
Junior
Joe Borden (Newburgh, N.Y.) had a competitive match with Willen Feygin at No. 2 singles, but was defeated, 6-2, 6-1. Senior
Connor Bean (Glenville, N.Y.) dropped the No. 1 singles match to Mike Abelev, 6-1, 6-1, and senior
Joel Rodriguez (Hackensack, N.J.) fell by the same score at flight six to Talmage.
