RYE BROOK, N.Y. – After 23 long days of waiting, the Mount Saint Mary College softball team (6-6, 2-0 Skyline) finally got to play up in the Northeast, and the Knights came out with a vengeance, pounding the ball all over the place as they swept a Skyline Conference doubleheader against Purchase College (3-7, 0-6 Skyline) at Blind Brook High School Sunday afternoon. The Knights won 13-0 in game one, and closed the day with a 12-0 victory over the Panthers, ending both games after the five-inning mercy rule.

Game 2The Knights played a little more small-ball in game two to pick up another five-inning victory, producing just one extra-base hit in the game. Senior third baseman

Freshman pitcher
Cindy Connoly (Walden, N.Y.) hit 2-for-3 batting sixth for the Knights in game two. This helped back up her spectacular performance in the circle, in which she allowed just one hit and struck out 10 batters for the complete-game victory, improving her record to 3-3. She also faced the minimum 15 batters in the win. Nicole Fortuna took the loss for Purchase, allowing nine runs across two-plus innings.
After slugging 27 hits in 10 innings on Sunday, the Knights will look to keep their bats hot when they host Brooklyn College at Mount Saint Mary on Tuesday, March 31. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 3 p.m.
