BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College men's tennis team (2-2) fell to Brooklyn College (2-2) by a score of 7-2 Tuesday afternoon at Roosevelt Courts.
Senior
Bryan Frank (West Babylon, N.Y.) and freshman
Chris Jaros (Marlboro, N.Y.) picked up the only win for the Knights in doubles play on Tuesday, defeating Alan Esses and Andrew Mendelsohn, 8-1, at No. 3 doubles.
Every singles match was tight in Tuesday's non-conference affair, but the Bulldogs pushed a little harder to pick up the victory. The Knights fell at flights one-through-three, two of which needed third-set tiebreakers to decide the match, while No. 2 saw both sets end, 7-6, after tiebreakers in each. Freshman
Connor Gargan (Rocky Point, N.Y.) was the only singles victor for the Knights, as he beat Esses, 6-1, 3-6, 10-5, at No. 4 singles.
The Knights will look to bounce back when they open Skyline Conference play on Sunday, March 29, against Skyline newcomer Sarah Lawrence College. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. at the Mount Saint Mary College Tennis Courts.
