Kyra McNamee (Yonkers, N.Y.), the Mount Saint Mary College Women's Swimming team won its eighth straight dual meet decision with a 124-99 road non-conference win at William Paterson on Saturday.
McNamee continued the strong start to her collegiate career on Saturday with wins in the 200-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle. Her initial win came in a time of 2:05.08, while her distance freestyle victory came in a time of 5:33.11.
Mount Saint Mary took the top three spots in the 500-yard freestyle, with
Nicole Gautieri (Coral Springs, Fla.) and
Jessica Daigle (Trumbull, Conn.) following McNamee in second and third place, respectively. Daigle also posted a third place finish on Saturday in the 200-yard freestyle for the Knights.
Gautieri picked up a victory for the Mount in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 26.35 seconds with classmate
Lauren Schroeder (Wantagh, N.Y.) picking up a win for the Knights in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 59.34 seconds.
Freshman
Harley Illingworth (Northfield, N.J.) scored a victory for Mount Saint Mary in the 100-yard backstroke and added a second place showing in the 200-yard individual medley. Her win came in a time of 1:04.36, while her second place finish came with a time of 2:24.80.
Mount Saint Mary also received strong swims on Saturday from
Danielle Hughes (Oakville, Conn.) who took third in the 200-yard IM,
Regina Zeoli (Washingtonville, N.Y.) who placed second in the 100-yard butterfly, Rachel Stone (Wallingford, Conn.) who placed second in the 100-yard freestyle and third in the 100-yard backstroke and
Marissa Catania (Rocky Point, Conn.) who took second in the 100-yard breaststroke.
The Knights continued their strong showings in the relay events on Saturday, winning both the 200-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle races against the Pioneers. The team of Illingworth, Catania, Zeoli and Gautieri won the opening medley race in 1:59.21, before the squad of Schroeder,
Allison Sciucco (Middletown, N.Y.),
Amanda Bocekci (Paramus, N.J.) and McNaee closed the meet with a winning time of 1:50.28 in the freestyle event.
Saturday's win pushes Mount Saint Mary to 8-1 overall on the season. The Knights will be off until January 8 when they welcome Marywood to the Kaplan Center Pool for a 3:00 p.m. dual meet.
