Complete ResultsNewburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College Men's Swimming team returned to action on Friday night, suffering a 122-81 loss to league rival Maritime. The Knights won four events on the night, including victories from
Kyle Barber (Shelton, Conn.),
Christopher Sagan (West Hempstead, N.Y.),
Jake Schoenherr (Scarsdale, N.Y.) and
Sam Watson (Groton, Conn.).
Barber picked up the Knights first victory of the meet, taking the top spot in the 1,000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:12.52. He finished off a strong night with a second place finish in the 100-yard butterfly in 56.42 seconds and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:29.24.
Schoenherr collected a win in the 100-yard freestyle for the Knights, swimming a time of 50.65 seconds. Schoenherr also added a second place showing in the 50-yard freestyle in 23.06 seconds and the 100-yard breaststroke, showing a time of 1:05.78.
Sagan topped the field on Friday in the 500-yard freestyle and also took second place in the 200-yard freestyle event. Sagan's victory came in a time of 5:17.23 and posted a finishing time of 1:56.51 in the 200-yard event.
Watson continued his solid 2015-16 season for the Knights with a win in the 100-yard backstroke, adding second place finishes in both the 50-yard freestyle and 200-yard individual medley against the Privateers. After finishing the sprint event in a time of 23.75 seconds and the IM in 2:15.40, Watson won the backstroke event after touching out in a time of 59.74 seconds.
With Friday's loss, Mount Saint Mary falls to 3-3 overall on the season and to 2-1 against conference opponents. The Knights will be right back in the water on Saturday when they travel to Williams Paterson for a non-conference meet with the Pioneers. Races are scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
