Kyle Barber (Shelton, Conn.) posted the Knights' lone individual win in the meet, taking first in the 200-yard butterfly.
Barber finished the meet with his victory in the butterfly in a time of 2:10.88. In addition to his individual win, he picked up a second place finish for the Knights in the 200-yard freestyle, touching out in a time of 1:56.19.
Mount Saint Mary also received a strong swim in Saturday from sophomore
Jake Schoenherr (Scarsdale, N.Y.) who picked up a pair of second place finishes on the day. His first second place showing came in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.45, with his second coming in the 100-yard freestyle event in a time of 51.21 seconds.
Sam Watson (Groton, Conn.) followed in third place in the 50-yard event, posting a time of 23.64 seconds.
The Knights took second place in four other individual events on Saturday, including the 1,000-yard freestyle, the 200-yard individual medley, the 200-yard backstroke and the 500-yard freestyle.
Steven Fejes (Stony Point, N.Y.) and
Christopher Sagan (West Hempstead, N.Y.) each took a second place finish in the distance freestyle events with
Matthew Gamboa (Huntington, N.Y.) collecting second place points in the IM and Watson posting a second place finish in the backstroke.
In the relay events, Mount Saint Mary opened the meet with a first place finish in the 400-yard medley relay and closed the competition with a second place showing in the 400-yard freestyle. The winning team of Watson, Sagan, Barber and Schoenherr beat the King's squad with a time of 3:55.91, while the team of
Ryan Verillo (Cheshire, Conn.), Fejes,
Anthony Krueger (Naugatuck, Conn.) and
Joseph Kulesza (Torrington, Conn.) took second in the freestyle race in a time of 4:03.01.
Saturday's loss drops Mount Saint Mary to 1-2 overall on the season in dual meet competition. The Knights will open conference competition on Friday, November 13 when they welcome Purchase and St. Joseph's-Brooklyn to the Kaplan Center Pool. Meet time is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
