Newburgh, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary Men's Tennis team scored its first win of the season on Thursday night with a 7-2 non-conference triumph over visiting Western Connecticut. The Knights won the final five singles positions in the match, with Shane Terry scoring a singles and a doubles victory.
After dropping the first doubles match of the night, the Knights rebounded to take the final two matches. Matt Anastasi and Chris McGorty teamed for an 8-0 victory at the second position, with Shane Terry and
Joe Borden (Newburgh, N.Y.) scoring an 8-2 triumph at third doubles.
In the singles competition on Thursday, the Mount again fell at the first position and rebounded to take the final five matches to secure its initial win of the season. Senior Nate Dimmie (Wallkill, N.Y.) started the sting with a 2-6, 6-1, 10-3 win at second doubles.

Dan Witke (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored a 6-4, 6-1 win at third singles followed by a 6-3, 6-1 win at the fourth position from McGorty. Terry picked up a singles victory at the fifth position, posting a 7-5, 6-4 win before
Chris Jaros (Marlboro, N.Y.) recorded a 6-1, 6-2 win at the sixth position to close out the win.
Thursday's victory stops a two match slide for the Knights and moves them to 1-2 overall on the season.
