Madison, N.J. – The Mount Saint Mary College Women's Swimming team won nine events on Friday night on its way to a 145-51 road win at Drew. The Knights were led on the night by a pair of individual victories from freshman
Nicole Gautieri (Coral Springs, Fla.).
Gautieri earned her first win of the night for Mount Saint Mary in the 50-yard freestyle, topping the field on Friday in a time of 25.74 seconds. She followed that up with a victory for the Knights in the 100-yard freestyle, showing a winning time of 56.78 seconds. Classmate
Lauren Schroeder (Wantagh, N.Y.) followed in third place in both events, posting a time of 26.53 seconds in the 50-yard race and 58.01 seconds in the 100-yard event.
Sophomore Rachel Stone (Wallingford, Conn.) swan away from the field in the 1,000-yard freestyle on Friday, posting a time of 12:04.17 and winning the event by better than 16 seconds. Stone rounded out a strong night with a second place finish for Mount Saint Mary in the 200-yard backstroke after posting a time of 2:32.30.
Harley Illingworth (Northfield, N.J.) continued the strong start to her collegiate career with a win in the 200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:24.78, while sophomore
Samantha McGregor (Highland Mills, N.Y.) won the 200-yard butterfly in 2:40.71.
Mount Saint Mary also picked up wins on Friday night in the 200-yard breaststroke and the 500-yard freestyle. Sophomore
Marissa Catania (Rocky Hill, Conn.) won the breaststroke race in 2:38.53 with junior
Jessica Daigle (Trumbull, Conn.) besting the field in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:43.52. Newcomer
Kyra McNamee (Yonkers, N.Y.) followed Daigle in the distance freestyle race and also picked up a second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle.
Mount Saint Mary's other two victories on Friday night came in the two relay events. The quartet of Illingworth, Catania,
Regina Zeoli (Washingtonville, N.Y.) and Gautieri won the 200-yard medley event in 1:56.97 before the squad of Illingworth,
Kira Adler (Shelton, Conn.), Schroeder and Daigle won the 400-yard freestyle race with a time of 3:59.87.
Friday's win evens Mount Saint Mary's record at 1-1 overall in dual meet competition. The Knights will return to the pool on November 7 for a non-conference home meet with King's (Pa.). Meet time at the Kaplan Center Pool is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
