KISSIMMEE, Fla. – The Mount Saint Mary College men's tennis team (2-1) split its first two matches of its spring break trip to Kissimmee, Fla. on Monday, defeating Alvernia University (2-4), 6-3, in the morning match, but then falling to Cornell College (4-6), 5-4, in their afternoon contest.
The top-flight doubles team of senior
Greg Jacob (Ridgefield, Conn.) and junior
Nate Dimmie (Middletown, N.Y.), as well as the No. 2 doubles pair of sophomore
Mike Balokoz (Milford, Conn.) and freshman
Gavin McNulty (Darien, Conn.) each went 2-0 on Monday. Junior
Connor Bean (Glenville, N.Y.) and sophomore
Joe Borden (Newburgh, N.Y.) teamed up at No. 3 doubles against Alvernia, and came out victorious over Sean Boyd and Colin MacCloskey, 8-6.
Graduate student
Kevin Ryan (West Islip, N.Y.) went 2-0 at No. 6 singles, the only Knight to win both of his singles matches on the day. Jacob, Balokoz and McNulty each split their singles matches on the day.
The Knights have a lighter load tomorrow, March 11, as they play just one match. They will take on Wisconsin Lutheran College at 3:30 p.m.
