NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College men's and women's swimming teams had different results for the second day in a row, as the women's team conquered the Pioneer women by a score of 162-97, and the men fell to the Pioneer men, 169-91. The women improve to 5-1 on the season, while the men fall to 3-3 overall.
Freshman
Rachael Stone (Wallingford, Conn.) had a very impressive afternoon, picking up three individual victories. She won the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:51.93), 100-yard backstroke (1:07.95) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:50.47) to pick up plenty of points for the Knights. Sophomore
Lauren Becerra (White Plains, N.Y.) added two wins, touching first in the 200-yard freestyle (2:07.24) and the 100-yard freestyle (58.73). She also swam the anchor leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay, which also picked up a win with a time of 4:03.62 to close out the day. Freshman

Danielle Rodriguez (Highland, N.Y.) and sophomore
Kira Adler (Shelton, Conn.) made up the rest of the victorious relay team.
The men's team's biggest victory of the day came at the end of the meet, as the 400-yard freestyle relay foursome of senior
Jason Lorch (Plainview, N.Y.), freshman
Kyle Barber (Shelton, Conn.), freshman
Jake Schoenherr (Scarsdale, N.Y.) and freshman
Ryan Ward (Brooklyn, N.Y.) swam a time of 3:33.75 to narrowly edge William Paterson's A-team by just 13-hundreths of a second. Barber grabbed an individual win in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:32.62.
The Knights have finished the 2014 portion of their winter schedule. They will next swim at Marywood University on Friday, Jan. 9, 2015 at 5 p.m.
