Women’s Swimming Earns 78-55 Victory in Skyline Dual-Meet Against St. Joseph’s (L.I.)

Meet Results

NEWBURGH, N.Y. – The Mount Saint Mary College women's swimming team (7-3, 3-0 Skyline) took down St. Joseph's College (L.I.) (1-4, 1-1 Skyline), 78-55, in a Skyline Conference dual-meet at the Kaplan Center Saturday afternoon. The win marks the third in a row for the Knight women and keeps their conference record perfect to this point.

A depleted lineup for the visiting Golden Eagles led to a quick win for the Knights. Junior Meghan Seaman (Staten Island, N.Y.) grabbed a nice win for the Knights in the 1,000-yard freestyle, touching first at 11:50.47. Freshman Regina Zeoli (Washingtonville, N.Y.) followed with a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:09.06.

The Knights grabbed big points in the 50-yard freestyle by taking the top three spots in the event. Freshman Allison Sciucco (Middletown, N.Y.) took first at 27.30, junior Danielle Rodriguez (Highland, N.Y.) touched second at 27.87 and then freshman Amanda Bocekci (Paramus, N.J.) grabbed third at 28.34. Junior Lauren Becerra also grabbed a solid victory for the Knights, taking the win in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:30.75.

The Knight men and women next race in a non-conference dual-meet at SUNY New Paltz on Friday, Jan. 24. The teams are set to hit the pool at 6 p.m. Friday evening.
