MADISON, N.J. – The Mount Saint Mary College men's swimming team (1-0) took home a 129-107 victory over host Drew University (0-2) on Saturday in its first dual meet of the 2013-14 campaign, but the women's swimming team (0-1) suffered a 156-100 defeat to the Drew women (1-1).
The men picked up seven individual victories in Saturday's meet. Sophomore
Sean Sullivan (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) earned the first individual win of the day with a time of 12:24.74 in the 1,000-yard freestyle. Junior
Ryan Murray (Long Beach, N.Y.) followed with a victory in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:03.92. Sophomore
Sam Watson (Groton, Conn.) swam a 59.92 in the 100-yard backstroke to earn the third individual win on the men's side. Watson was later victorious in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:14.45.
After dropping a few races, the men got back on track when junior
Jason Lorch (Plainview, N.Y.) pulled out a win in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.32. Lorch jumped right back in and won the next race, the 100-yard freestyle, with a time of 53.36. Senior
Conor Dowd (Massapequa, N.Y.) was the final individual winner on the men's side, finishing with a time of 1:01.66 in the 100-yard butterfly.
The men also grabbed a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay, as the team of Lorch, freshman
Joseph Gwillym (Pine Bush, N.Y.), freshman
Camilo Gonzalez (Elmont, N.Y.) and senior
Mark Bohlinger (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) finished with a time of 1:39.60.
The highlight of the day for the women took place in the 200-yard freestyle relay. For the second-straight meet, the Mount Saint Mary women's relay team broke the previous program record. The team of freshman

Danielle Rodriguez (Highland, N.Y.) and
Lauren Becerra (White Plains, N.Y.) swam a time of 1:48.68 to set a new program mark and grab a win in the race.
The men's and women's swimming teams host their first home meet of the season on Friday, Nov. 8, as they open their Skyline Conference schedule against Purchase College. The meet is set to kick off at 6:30 p.m. at the Kaplan Center.
