NEWBURGH, N.Y. - Mount Saint Mary College won two of the three doubles matches, but couldn't carry the momentum to singles in a 6-3, non-conference loss to Ramapo College on Tuesday evening in Newburgh. The Knights drop to 5-6 on the year.
Seniors
Mike McNicholas (Milton, N.Y.) and Nate Ahlberg (Catskill, N.Y.) teamed for an 8-4 win at second doubles to even the match at 1-1. Then, at first doubles, sophomore
Greg Jacob (Ridgefield, Conn.) paired with freshman
Nate Dimmie (Middletown, N.Y.) to prevail in a tiebreak. Jacob/Dimmie trailed 6-5 in the breaker, but won the next three points to claim the match, 9-8 (8-6).
Senior
Zach Conlon (Huntington, N.Y.) provided the only singles victory for the Mount, prevailing 7-5, 6-1 at fifth singles. Ramapo won the other five matches in straight sets.
The Knights return to Skyline Conference play on Thursday when they host Sage. The match is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start on the MSMC Tennis Courts.
