Greg Jacob (Ridgefield, Conn.) and freshman
Conor Merryman (Marlboro, N.Y.), the Mount Saint Mary College men's tennis team dropped a 5-4 decision at Bard College on Thursday evening. The Knights fall to 3-3 overall.
Jacob and Merryman teamed at second doubles for an 8-3 victory, but the Knights would fall behind, 2-1, after the doubles play. Seniors
Mike McNicholas (Milton, N.Y.) and Nate Ahlberg (Catskill, N.Y.) played well at first doubles, but ultimately lost in a tiebreak, 9-8 (7-3).
Jacob dominated his match at first singles, rolling to a 6-3, 6-2 win, while Merryman squeaked out a narrow first set, 6-4, and cruised to a 6-1 win in the second set at sixth singles. Senior
Zach Conlon (Huntington, N.Y.) held on for a 6-4, 7-6 (7-4) win at fourth singles.
The Knights head to Farmingdale State College for a Skyline Conference match on Saturday. Start time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
