Mount Swims Past FDU-Florham

MADISON, N.J. – Both the Mount Saint Mary College men's and women's swimming were victorious over non-conference opponent, Fairleigh Dickinson University at Florham in last night's swim meet. The women bested FDU-Florham, 124-76, to improve to 6-3 on the season, while the men won, 98-73, to move to 5-4 overall.

On the women's side, four swimmers captured at least one individual event to propel the Knights to their win. Senior Censi Danner (Saugerties, N.Y.) has consistently been a top-performer all season and once again she captured wins in the 50 freestyle (26.30) and the 100 butterfly (1:04.48). Sophomore Allison Wyatt (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) raced to first place in the 200 individual medley (2:29.71) and the 100 breaststroke (1:15.69).

Other individual event winners include junior Brianna Perazella (Chesire, Conn.) in the 200 freestyle (2:14.27) and freshman Meagan Seaman (Staten Island, N.Y.) in the 500 freestyle (6:00.92). Seaman blew away the field in the 500 freestyle, finishing 28 seconds ahead of the field. The 200 freestyle relay team comprised of Danner, Wyatt, Perazella and Seaman capped the meet with a first place time of 1:53.17.

Senior Enrique Naudy (Monroe, N.Y.) continued his impressive 2011-2012 campaign with two individual first place finishes, while three other Knights also recorded top finishes. Naudy took first in the 200 freestyle (2:08.68) and the 200 individual medley (2:20.46). Sophomore Mark Bohlinger (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) was dominant in the short freestyle events, capturing first in the 50 freestyle (24.72) and the 100 freestyle (1:00.25). Fellow sophomore Conor Dowd (Massapequa, N.Y.) finished first in the 100 butterfly (1:04.77) and freshman Ryan Murray (Long Beach, N.Y.) rounded out the top finishes with a win in the 500 freestyle (6:09.59).

The Knights will prepare quickly for a home meet on Thursday, January 26 against SUNY-Delhi. The meet is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
