CHICOPEE, Mass. – In a non-conference contest against Elms College, the Mount Saint Mary College women's swimming team fell by a score of 115-86, while the men suffered a 101-61 defeat. The women move to 5-3 on the season and the men drop to an even 4-4 overall.
Mount senior
Censi Danner (Saugerties, N.Y.) was a bright spot for the Knights, as she captured two individual events. Danner raced to first place in the 50 freestyle (29.10) and the 100 butterfly (1:12.06). Freshman
Meghan Seaman (Staten Island, N.Y.) was the only other individual event winner for the women, capturing first in the 400 freestyle (5:19.11). Junior
Deirdre Kenny (Brookyln, N.Y.) finished right behin Seaman in the 400, clocking in with a time of 5:26.65.
In the final event of the meet, the 200 freestyle relay team composed of Kenny, junior
Megan Pierce (Moriches, N.Y.) , junior
Rachel Johnson (Levittown, N.Y.) and Seaman earned first place, finishing in 2:23.57.
On the men's side, senior
Enrique Naudy (Monroe, N.Y.) came away with three individual top finishes. Naudy was first in the 50 freestyle (25.96), the 100 freestyle (1:00.19) and the 100 backstroke (1:07.87). Sophomore
Conor Dowd (Massapequa, N.Y.) placed second in two events; the 200 freestyle (2:23.07) and the 100 butterfly (1:16.27).
The Knights enjoy a week off before returning to action on Saturday January 21 at SUNY College at Old Westbury. The Mount will take on the Panthers in a Skyline Conference meet that is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
