NEWBURGH, N.Y. – While winning sixteen of eighteen individual events, the Mount Saint Mary College swim teams swept a pair of meets from SUNY Cobleskill and SUNY Delhi on Tuesday evening. The men's team improved to 9-2 overall, while the women's team moved to 7-4.
Seniors
Brian Heitman (Ramsey, N.J.) and
Dan Courtney (Suffern, N.Y.) were both triple winners on the men's side. Heitman was victorious in the 50 freestyle (23.80), the 100 butterfly (1:02.03), and the 500 freestyle (5:28.62). Courtney took home the 1000 freestyle (12:13.38), the 200 individual medley (2:24.67), and the 100 breaststroke (1:13.78).
Freshman
Conor Dowd (Massapequa, N.Y.) picked up a pair of wins in the 200 freestyle (2:06.67) and the 100 freestyle (55.46). Freshman
Mark Bohlinger (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) was a winner in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:08.58.
On the women's side, sophomore
Kassie Kayal (Wayne, N.J.), sophomore
Deirdre Kenny (Brooklyn, N.Y.), and junior
Censi Danner (Saugerties, N.Y.) were all double winners. Kayal won the 200 freestyle (2:17.21) and the 100 backstroke (1:13.41), while Kenny took home the long distance events – the 1000 freestyle in 12:55.37 and the 500 freestyle in 6:12.07. Danner was victorious in the 100 freestyle (58.38) and the 100 breaststroke (1:13.15).
Freshman
Allison Wyatt (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) rounded out the winners with a triumph in the 200 individual medley (2:33.42).
The Mount closes out their home season on Thursday with a double dual against Post University and Fairleigh Dickinson University. The meet is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
