Mount Drops Skyline Match to Yeshiva

NEWBURGH, N.Y. - Still seeking their first win inside the Skyline Conference, the Mount Saint Mary College men's tennis team fell to Yeshiva University, 8-1, on Tuesday in Cronomer Park.  The Knights are now 3-5 overall and 0-3 in conference play.

Freshman Kevin Ryan (West Islip, N.Y.) recorded the only point of the evening for the Mount, taking a 6-2, 6-2 decision at third singles.  Seniors Ian Jackson (Washington, N.J.), John Como (Wingdale, N.Y.), and Brian Cangemi (East Northport, N.Y.) all lost in third set super tiebreakers at second, fourth, and fifth singles, respectively.

Sophomore Mike McNicholas (Marlboro, N.Y.) played an excellent match at first singles and the final score of 6-0, 6-1 didn't indicate the quality of play.  The story was the same for senior Matt D'Angelico (Shelton, Conn.) at sixth singles.

Yeshiva swept all three doubles matches to take a 3-0 lead into the singles competition.

Mount Saint Mary returns to action tomorrow at Marywood University.  The Knights will take on the 10-3 Pacers in a 4:00 p.m. start.
