FLORHAM, N.J. – Behind strong efforts from sophomore
Enrique Naudy (Monroe, N.Y.), junior
Brian Heitman (Ramsey, N.J.), and freshman
Brianna Perazella (Cheshire, Conn.), the Mount Saint Mary College men's and women's swimming teams earned victories over Fairleigh Dickinson at Florham on Thursday night. The men defeated the Knights, 107-70, while the women earned a 111-87 victory.
Naudy won a pair of individual events, but his best swim of the night came during a second place finish in the 1000 freestyle. The sophomore set a new school record with a time of 10:29.05. Naudy earned first place points in the 200 individual medley (2:20.29) and the 200 backstroke (2:03.77).
Heitman also captured a pair of individual events, winning the 200 freestyle (1:58.00) and the 500 freestyle (5:30.92). He was second in the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.18. Senior
Stephen Ghostlaw (New Windsor, N.Y.) and junior
Dan Courtney (Suffern, N.Y.) also won individual events. Ghostlaw took the 200 butterfly (2:22.17), while Courtney was victorious in the 200 breaststroke (2:47.64).
On the women's side, Perazella remained unbeaten in dual meets with two more individual event victories. The rookie won the 1000 freestyle in 11:27.64 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:42.19. She also teamed with freshman
Kassie Kayal (Wayne, N.J.), freshman
Jamie Testa (Cheshire, Conn.), and freshman
Megan Whelan (Greenville, N.Y.) to win the 200 medley relay in 2:08.40.

Christina Figueroa (New Windsor, N.Y.), and sophomore
Sarah Pruschki (Walden, N.Y.) all chipped in with individual event wins for the Blue Knights. Kayal won the 200 backstroke in 2:29.33, while Whelan ousted the field in the 200 individual medley (2:33.35). Figueroa touched first in the 50 freestyle (29.33) and Pruschki gutted out a win in the 500 freestyle with a time of 6:21.41.
Also of note on the women's side was freshman
Megan Pierce (Moriches, N.Y.) who swam a season-best time in the 1000 freestyle (13:17.76).
The men's and women's teams return to action on Saturday, January 30. The Blue Knights will host SUNY College at Old Westbury in a noon start at the Kaplan Center.
