NEWBURGH, NY – The Mount Saint Mary College men's and women's swim teams swept a dual meet from Maritime College on Wednesday night. The men's team also picked up a victory over SUNY College at Old Westbury to improve to 11-1 in dual meets this season. The women's team improved to 8-8 on the season.
On the men's side, the Blue Knights earned a 51-44 decision over Maritime, avenging Saturday's loss to the Privateers in the Skyline Conference championship meet. The Mount defeated Old Westbury, 58-37, and completed a season sweep of the Panthers. Their record of 11-1 is the best in program history.
Freshman
Enrique Naudy (Monroe, N.Y.) won all three of his individual events, capturing the 200 freestyle (1:54.23), the 200 individual medley (2:11.63), and the 100 backstroke (57.42). Freshman
Kevin Wallace (Middletown, Conn.) was a winner in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.77) and also placed in the 200 freestyle and the 100 freestyle. Senior
Thomas DiLeo (Newburgh, N.Y.) and sophomore
Brian Heitman (Ramsey, N.J.) went one-two in the 500 freestyle. DiLeo won the 1000 freestyle in a time of 11:04.53.
In women's action, the Mount defeated Maritime by a score of 117-86. Junior
Annie Parodi (Warwick, N.Y.) and sophomore
Christina Gulotta (Howell, N.J.) were both double-event winners. Parodi won the 1000 freestyle (12:17.73) and the 500 freestyle (5:53.84), while Gulotta took home the 200 freestyle (2:17.32) and the 100 butterfly (1:11.69). Sophomore
Alex Taliana (Westbury, N.Y.) won the 100 freestyle in 1:11.24.
The Blue Knights will have a week and a half off before competing at the Metropolitan Conference Championships. The championship meet begins on Friday, February 20 and runs through Sunday, February 22 at Rutgers University in Piscataway, New Jersey.
