NEWBURGH, NY – Led by two record-setting performances by freshman
Enrique Naudy (Monroe, N.Y.), the Mount Saint Mary College men's swimming team defeated Drew University, 116-93, on Saturday. The women's team dropped a 156-83 decision to the women's team from Drew.
Naudy went on to win all three of his individual events, but the record-breaking times were the standout performance of the meet. The freshman broke the school record in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:02.46 and also captured the record in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:10.06. Naudy was a winner in the 100 butterfly (1:03.83) as well.
Freshman
Kevin Wallace (Middletown, Conn.) continued his fine rookie season with a pair of individual event victories. He took home the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.77 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:33.46. Sophomore
Brian Carr (Linden, N.J.) won the 100 backstroke (1:09.38), senior
Thomas DiLeo (Newburgh, N.Y.) won the 200 butterfly (2:13.88), and sophomore
Brian Heitman (Ramsey, N.J.) won the 50 freestyle, rounding out the individual winners on the men's side.
Junior
Annie Parodi (Warwick, N.Y.) was the top performer on the women's side. Parodi started off her meet with a win in the 200 butterfly, capturing the event in 2:35.43. She also took home the 200 breaststroke in 2:47.69 and the 200 individual medley in 2:31.16.
Sophomore
Christina Gulotta (Howell, N.J.) won the 200 freestyle (2:16.70) and was the only other individual event winner for the women's team.
Both teams return to action on Monday, January 26 as they host SUNY Cobleskill and the College of Mount Saint Vincent. The meet is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
