Mount Saint Mary College Athletics

Freshman second baseman Shannon Sommer hit .500 out of the leadoff spot in a 2-2 week for the Knights. She went 7-for-14 with a double and a triple with four runs scored and two RBI. She also recorded an on base percentage of .533 for the week. She went 1-for-3 in both games of a doubleheader against Manhattanville College on Thursday, with a walk and a stolen base in game two. She hit 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBI and two runs scored in the Knights 10-2 victory over Purchase College in game one on Saturday, and followed up this performance with a 3-for-4 effort in game two with a double and two runs scored. She is currently on a seven-game hitting streak and is batting .397 in the early stages of her freshman campaign.

The Knights return to action on Tuesday, April 1, when they travel to the College of New Rochelle for a non-conference doubleheader. Game one is set to begin at 6 p.m.
